Jack's latest project is set for digital release on the 23rd of December, find out all about it below.
Jack and Charlotte Capstaff are set for the digital release of their new feature, the Snow Queen, this week.
With the cost-of-living crisis affecting so many, and attendance of concerts less viable for families with increasing pressures, they have decided to release the 30 minute multi-media project as a free to view vide on Youtube.
The work is a 30-minute length multimedia work for band, motion graphic and narration, and follows the story of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen.
Jack is no stranger to projects like this and aims to create a multimedia event each year to present in outreach and concert settings in an attempt to engage a new and more diverse audience in the run up to Christmas, helping to engage on those who attend concerts at Christmas, where they may typically be less exposed to western classical music through the year.
The Snow Queen was set for premier last year, however, was cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns at the time.
This presented an opportunity to Jack, who is keen to not let digital concerts and project lapse following the pandemic:
“I’m keen that following a couple of years of online concerts and digital projects, that while those of us who can get back to enjoying live music and arts, we don’t lose focus on the audience who can’t attend in person. There’s also a tremendous environmental argument, as we look towards presenting music and art in accessible formats that save hundreds of people driving to concerts, and in an era of increasingly accessible high quality home audio-visual equipment, the fidelity is generally there to get the most out of these products in the comfort of your own home.”
The story follows Gerda, a girl who’s courage, commitment, and determination, allows her to battles against all odds to save her young friend.
The vide is the culmination of much work by Jack, who wrote the music and conducted the recording, Charlotte Capstaff, who’s stunning graphics capture the story book atmosphere of Andersen’s material, along with stellar playing by the Carlton Main Frickley Collier Band, and a wonderful narration provided by the voice of brass banding, Frank Renton.
The video will be free to access between the 23rd and 31st of December, speaking on this decision, Jack said:
“This year more than most, I’m conscious of the significant cost pressures affecting families between the energy crisis, cost of living crisis, and rampant inflation increasing the cost of Christmas for many, that’s why I’m very happy to offer this absolutely free of charge from the 23rd of December to the 31st of December.
I have, however, set up a link to support ‘turn2us’ a superb charity helping those in financial need. People shouldn’t feel pressured into giving, but if they can afford a small donation, it would be greatly appreciated.”
There will also be a link to Jack’s website, https://jackcapstaff.com/ , where you can go and purchase a downloadable copy of the video. Any and all revenues from these purchases in between Dec23 and Dec31 will also go to charity.
